On August 7th, Where Music Carries Us brought woodwind players to Princeton Christian Church for an educational concert about the woodwind family of instruments. One performer playing each instrument presented their instrument to the campers. Some of the wonderful repertoire presented was a flute choir rendition of “You Raise Me Up,” Haydn’s London Trio, and Psalm 19, arranged for two flutes, clarinet, oboe, and bassoon. At the end, we took a picture with all the campers. We hope to be back at Princeton Christian Church again soon!

Here is Sanjana Yeddula’s first hand account of the event:
For the concert, Amanda Cariaga , Sriya Chintalapudi, and I prepared three movements of the Enchanted Flute Trio by Ricky Lombardo: Enchanted Winds, Enchanted Mountains, and Enchanted Forest. We have been performing as a trio for the past two WMCU events with the help of our flute teacher and artistic director of WMCU, Ms. Amy Tu. Since this is our third event together, we have become accustomed to each other’s playing, putting the pieces together more quickly and easily. Additionally, this outreach performance was very unique because we had a young audience ranging from kindergarten to 6th grade. These kids were very engaged throughout and some even danced to the songs! Many of them asked me how I started playing flute and told me about the instruments they were learning to play. It was very rewarding to see such a positive response from them! Since I started playing in these chamber groups, I’ve learned the importance of balance in a performance, how to listen to other people, and learned how to figure out how each parts fit together. WMCU has really opened my eyes to the different opportunities music offers and I am excited for future performances. Special thanks to Mrs. BingBing Chang and the Princeton Christian Church for this amazing opportunity!”
