At 2:00 pm on Sunday, December 8th, 2024, Where Music Carries Us (WMCU) hosted their winter concert at the Harriet Bryan House in the Elm Court Senior Center, offering a mix of holiday music, cultural dances, and classical pieces to help residents relax and enjoy the start of the holiday season.
The performance began with a captivating Romani dance Dancing Gypsy by renowned dancer Nadya Zhilaev, followed by Inia Kim’s violin performance of Beethoven’s Minuet in G Major. Aleena and Carina Zhang delighted the audience with a festive flute and clarinet Christmas Medley, and Anya Blix enchanted everyone with Adoration by F. Borowski on the violin. Leimma Kim then took the spotlight with Gigue by F. Veracini, before the PRISMS Choir filled the room with the joyful sound of various Christmas carols. Elizabeth Wang dazzled with Tchaikovsky’s Canzonetta on the violin, while Ella Chen brought elegance to the stage with
Chopin’s Waltz in C Minor on the piano. Pranathi Kummarapurugu followed with a traditional
Indian dance to Pranavalaya by A. Kulkarni. Karis Kim showcased her talent with Concerto 1 in
C Major by J. Haydn on the cello, and Aleena Zhang delivered a moving performance of Fantasie Opus 79 by G. Fauré on the flute. The evening concluded with two stunning dances by Nadya Zhilaev, leaving the audience both captivated and inspired.
The concert was a beautiful celebration of music, culture, and community, bringing holiday cheer and lasting inspiration to all who attended.
