This winter, Where Music Carries Us teamed up with the Homefront organization in Mercer
County, New Jersey, to sponsor holiday gifts for thirty children in need. On Saturday, December 7th, 2024, members of the group gathered at Homefront’s center to donate a variety of items, including gift cards, board games, dolls, and more.
During the visit, one of the organization’s directors graciously gave us a tour of the facility. As she showed us their storage areas stocked with diapers, food, and other essentials, she explained that Homefront operates on an open-access system, allowing anyone in need to come in at any time and take what they require. She also highlighted the center’s educational programs, such as art and sewing classes, which provide valuable skills to participants. Many women, in particular, attend these classes to relieve stress and even generate income by repairing clothing or selling their artwork.
For all who attended, the experience was both enlightening and rewarding. It offered a deeper understanding of how our donations and volunteer efforts are making a tangible difference in the community.
